The Four Foundations of Mindfulness

The SIM teaching team is presenting an on-going discussion of the application of the historical Buddha's discourse on the Four foundations of mindfulness.  Also known as the Satipatthana Sutta, this discourse describes a range of meditation techniques that are the foundation of the Insight Meditation tradition.  the Four foundations of Mindfulness are:

     1. Mindfulness of the Body

     2. Mindfulness of Feeling Tone

     3. Mindfulness of Mind states

     4. Mindfulness of Mind Objects/Insights

For each topic there are several components (see Handout: the Fields of Knowing Through Direct Experience" - link to Dennis's handout from talk 6-11-09).  these components will be explored in the course of the Thursday evening discussions.
